OjamaApps
使命

Making Japan's everyday systems readable.

Finding an apartment, booking a room, signing up for a service: in Japan, each one runs through websites and paperwork built for people who read Japanese and already know the unwritten rules. Machine translation gets you the words, but not what they mean for you.

Why we build

OjamaApps makes tools for English speakers who live in Japan, are moving there, or are visiting. We pick the tasks where people get stuck most often, where the information exists but is hard to read, scattered or out of date, and build something that puts it in plain English, next to the context you need to decide.

We are a small, independent studio. We build the tools we wished we'd had, and we test them on the real sites people use.

What we hold to

Explain, don't replace

Japan's own sites are where the listings, rooms and appointments are. We'd rather help you use them with confidence than ask you to trust a middleman.

Show what the source says

When a page states a fee or a rule, we show it as stated and say what it means. When it leaves something out, we tell you, so you know what to ask.

Private by default

Our tools keep what you do on your own device wherever they can. No account unless a feature truly needs one, and never data sold or shared for ads.

Small and focused

Each product does one job well. We'd rather ship a tool that saves you an afternoon than a platform that tries to do everything.

Support our work

OjamaApps is independent and self-funded. If one of our tools saved you an afternoon, you can buy us a coffee. It helps us keep building.
